Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

An individual that is trained to process claims and code procedures for physicians, hospitals and clinics.

Over 75% of money received in doctors' offices and hospitals comes in the form of insurance payments from government insurance programs and private insurance companies.

What is Electronic Billing?

An efficient way to submit claims instantaneously to insurance companies using the latest software. This eliminates the use of paper HCFA forms.

What is ICD-9 Coding

A numbered code to identify the patient's medical problem that is diagnosed by the physician.

What is CPT Coding?

A list of descriptive terms and codes that are used for reporting medical procedures, services and treatments performed by the physician.

Certification

Students will receive a diploma from Allied Health Institute and will be eligible to take certification through National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

Schedules

This is a six-month program.
Evening and Saturday classes are available.

Requirements

High School Diploma and Transcripts, College Transcripts, or G.E.D. with Scores.
